Highest Spending Healthcare Conditions In the USA.
Diabetes, ischemic Heart disease, and Back and Neck Pain are the top three conditions accounting for the highest spending on personal health care in the United States, according to a report published online Dec. 27 in JAMA.
Additionally, spending on pharmaceuticals, particularly diabetes therapies, antihypertensive drugs, and medications for hyperlipidemia – drove much of the massive increase in health care spending during the past 2 decades.
Does this signal the time for greater focus in time and resources on preventative healthcare education and actions.
The USA spending on healthcare is the highest in the developed world, but yet the quality of the nations health does not reflect that.
What actions can contribute to a change in this direction?
